Brake Fluid Moisture Content

We use the state of the art OBD2 Brake Tool that can detect high moisture content levels on any vehicles including high-level performance vehicles which go up to DOT5 (the highest). High moisture content levels will lead to a lowered boiling point thus affecting brake performance and if high enough the brakes can actually lose the ability to stop. Additionally, moisture can cause corrosion of the cylinders, brake calipers and thus eventually causing a leak. It’s crucial to perform this test on used cars because they usually sit for longer periods of time when trying to be sold.

Brake Fluid Test Strips

We use the Phoenix Systems (3001-b) Brake Fluid Test Strips, which is perfect for Dot 3,4, and even 5 brake fluid, to determine the quality of your brake fluid. As brake fluid gets used over time, it gets contaminated with surrounding particles. Copper is within the brake lines and when the brake lines get corroded copper particles leak into the fluid. Once the contamination reaches a certain point, that brake fluid is no good, it needs to be replaced and the brake copper lining needs to be checked on.

Exclusive Oil Field Blotter Test

Using our “exclusion” home made oil blotter tester we can detect the oil for carbon chunks, sludge, metal shavings and water contamination. The oil field blotter test identifies issues related to excessive engine soot, detects the presence of diesel fuel, glycol and other contaminates in an engine and evaluate a lubricants dispersity. These tests can provide you alerts to diesel fuel leaks, as well as glycol contamination. You can also discover if there are combustion issues or abnormal wear in the engine. This test can help identify issues before they cause complete engine failure.

Electric System Test

We use Autel MaxiDAS to perform an engine evaluation and an electrical diagnostic exam. This test will provide battery, charging system, and starting system evaluation. It will state vehicle problems within components that can lead a non-starting car and/or provide insight to hidden costly repairs. This thorough test is performed on all make and models.  This ensures the buyer of any electrical issues within the vehicle that could potential a raise later on.

Brake Pad Lining Inspection

Most car owners will not let allow you to unscrew the tires of the vehicle to perform a proper brake pad evaluation. Most inspectors then rely on a test drive to inspect the brakes – not good enough. However, here at Next Car Exam we come prepared and are ready for “no’s.” With our highly advance bore scope camera we can maneuver around tight corners and see in hard to get places. We can perform a proper brake pad inspection without having to unscrew the tires of the car and still provide an accurate reading to our customers. We look for signs of brake dust and brake pad thinning to get a better idea of its longevity.
